Psychodynamic Therapy

The Couch Psychodynamic TherapyPsychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-orientated therapy, is the oldest of the modern day therapies. Its roots grown from the forefather of psychology, Sigmund Freud, it is a longer term therapy that focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in a person’s present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are a client’s self-awareness and understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior. At The Couch, we use psychodynamic therapy in a way that enables the client to examine unresolved conflicts and symptoms that arise from past dysfunctional relationships and how they manifest themselves in our present lives.
