I am a registered Counselling Psychologist working in private practice and the school environment. I also enjoy psychological research and am passionate about community work.

My early career was in journalism which taught me how to listen. I enjoyed documenting people’s stories and always felt humbled by accounts of resilience and personal triumph. I had a desire to do more meaningful work, so I returned to university and obtained my Master’s degree in psychology at the Pearson Institute of Higher Education in 2016.

My internship year was spent at Epworth Children’s Home in Germiston where I had the opportunity to work with damaged and abused children and their families. I also spent time at Child Welfare in Reiger Park and Vosloorus and worked with students at Tsosoloso Secondary School in Thembisa.

I have experience in a wide range of areas including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and trauma counselling. I have conducted group therapy for substance abuse at Rehabilitation Centres, Wedge Gardens and Tranquility House. I have done trauma counselling at Netcare Sunward Park Hospital in Boksburg, plus telephonic counselling at SADAG and play therapy at Teddybear Clinic. I find a balance of private practice and community work to be most rewarding and have loved doing community work counselling and debriefing at underprivileged schools at towns Ugie and Maclear in the Eastern Cape.

I follow an integrated approach as I believe everyone is different and their personalities and life circumstances require flexibility. However, my training is psychodynamic, so I like to look at unconscious motivators of behaviour, plus the history of that behaviour, and old emotional patterns that no longer serve us.
