I obtained my undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (formerly known as MEDUNSA). I thereafter completed my internship and community service training at the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga Rankuwa. My passion for health/medical and community psychology developed during these formative years where I had the privilege of working with disadvantaged communities.

After the completion of my community service I worked for the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). During this time I  had the fantastic opportunity to deploy to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)  and to serve as a ‘peace keeper’ for the United Nations. I also served as the Acting HOD for the Clinical Psychology team at the unit where I was based for about a year. My tenure at the defence force gave me the confidence and expertise in trauma debriefing , couples, family, group therapy and it enhanced my leadership skills.

I then worked for Lyra Health South Africa (previously known as ICAS South Africa) where I gained great knowledge in understanding the Corporate World and the stressors associated with the working environment and organizational well-being. I served as an “Incapacity Specialist” for ICAS and my role included offering conflict management training, trauma debriefing and psychological advice for medical incapacity cases.

I then returned to the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and my responsibilities included the recruitment, training and supervision of Intern Clinical Psychologists. During this time I also lectured to the medical and post graduate students at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.

As I now settle into full time private practice, I am confident that the experience that I have gained over the past 17+ years will serve me well when assisting clients with their life’s problems.

As  a Clinical Psychologist, I am deeply appreciative of my role  to assist client’s in their most vulnerable moments and to equip them with the tools to be the masters of their own lives. I am a systems trained therapist who views the client holistically against the backdrop of their environment and their life’s experiences. I have the flexibility to embrace other therapeutic techniques and paradigms when required in therapy, like CBT, DBT and mindfulness. In  therapy with me, you will find an empathic ear and a commitment to assisting clients find the coping tools to effectively deal with their challenges.
